அப்படியே சவுல் கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தையைக் கைக்கொள்ளாமல், கர்த்தருக்குச் செய்த தன் துரோகத்தினிமித்தமும், அவன் கர்த்தரைத் தேடாமல் அஞ்சனம் பார்க்கிறவர்களைக் கேட்கும்படிக்குத் தேடினதினிமித்தமும் செத்துப்போனான்.

இவ்வாறு, சவுல் தம் துரோகங்களை முன்னிட்டு மடிந்தார். அவர் ஆண்டவர் கட்டளையைக் கடைப்பிடிக்காமல் அவருக்குத் துரோகம் செய்தார். மேலும், இறந்தோர் ஆவியிடம் ஆலோசனை கேட்டார்;
