அப்பொழுது சவுல் அவனை நோக்கி: நீயும் ஈசாயின் மகனும் எனக்கு விரோதமாய்க் கட்டுப்பாடுபண்ணி, இந்நாளில் இருக்கிறபடி எனக்குச் சதிபண்ண அவன் எனக்கு விரோதமாக எழும்பும்படிக்கு, நீ அவனுக்கு அப்பமும் பட்டயமும் கொடுத்து, தேவசந்நிதியில் அவனுக்காக விசாரித்தது என்ன என்றான்.

அப்பொழுது சவுல் அவனை நோக்கி: நீயும் ஈசாயின் மகனும் எனக்கு விரோதமாக சதிசெய்து, இந்நாளில் இருக்கிறபடி எனக்குச் சதிசெய்ய அவன் எனக்கு எதிராக எழும்பும்படி, நீ அவனுக்கு ரொட்டியும் பட்டயமும் கொடுத்து, தேவசந்நிதியில் அவனுக்காக விசாரித்தது என்ன என்றான்.

சவுல் அகிமெலேக்கிடம், “நீயும் ஈசாயின் மகனான தாவீதும் சேர்ந்து எனக்கு எதிராக ஏன் இரகசிய திட்டமிட்டீர்கள்? நீ அவனுக்கு அப்பமும் பட்டயமும் கொடுத்திருக்கிறாய்! அவனுக்காக தேவனிடம் ஜெபம் செய்திருக்கிறாய்? இப்போது தாவீது என்னை தாக்குவதற்குத் தயாராக இருக்கிறான்!” என்றான்.
