பின்பு ராஜா தன்னண்டையிலே நிற்கிற சேவகரை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் போய், கர்த்தருடைய ஆசாரியர்களைக் கொல்லுங்கள்; அவர்கள் கையும் தாவீதோடே இருக்கிறது; அவன் ஓடிப்போகிறதை அவர்கள் அறிந்திருந்தும், அதை எனக்கு வெளிப்படுத்தவில்லை என்றான்; ராஜாவின் வேலைக்காரரோ, கர்த்தருடைய ஆசாரியர்களைக் கொல்லத் தங்கள் கைகளை நீட்ட சம்மதிக்கவில்லை.

பின்பு ராஜா தன்னருகில் நிற்கிற காவலர்களை பார்த்து: நீங்கள் போய், கர்த்தருடைய ஆசாரியர்களைக் கொல்லுங்கள்; அவர்கள் கையும் தாவீதோடே இருக்கிறது; அவன் ஓடிப்போகிறதை அவர்கள் அறிந்திருந்தும், அதை எனக்கு வெளிப்படுத்தவில்லை என்றான்; ராஜாவின் வேலைக்காரர்களோ, கர்த்தருடைய ஆசாரியர்களைக் கொல்லத் தங்கள் கைகளை நீட்ட சம்மதிக்கவில்லை.

பிறகு அவன் தன் காவலர்களைப் பார்த்து, “போய் கர்த்தருடைய ஆசாரியர்களைக் கொல்லுங்கள். ஏனென்றால், அவர்கள் தாவீதின் பக்கம் இருக்கிறார்கள். அவன் தப்பித்துப்போனதை அறிந்தும், அவர்கள் என்னிடம் சொல்லவில்லை” என்றான். ஆனால் கர்த்தருடைய ஆசாரியர்களைக் கொல்ல அதிகாரிகள் மறுத்துவிட்டனர்.

And the king said unto the footmen that stood about him, Turn, and slay the priests of the LORD: because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not show it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of the LORD.
