செய்தி கொண்டுவந்தவன் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: இஸ்ரவேலர் பெலிஸ்தருக்கு முன்பாக முறிந்தோடிப்போனார்கள்; ஜனங்களுக்குள்ளே பெரிய சங்காரம் உண்டாயிற்று; உம்முடைய குமாரராகிய ஓப்னி பினெகாஸ் என்னும் இருவரும் இறந்துபோனார்கள்; தேவனுடைய பெட்டியும் பிடிபட்டு போயிற்று என்றான்.

அதற்கு அவன், “பெலிஸ்தர்களிடமிருந்து இஸ்ரவேலர்கள் ஓடிப்போனார்கள். இஸ்ரவேல் படை ஏராளமான வீரர்களை இழந்துவிட்டது. உமது இரு மகன்களும் மரித்துப்போனார்கள். பெலிஸ்தர் தேவனுடைய பரிசுத்தப் பெட்டியை எடுத்துக் கொண்டனர்” என்றான்.
