ஆகாஸ் தன் பிதாக்களோடே நித்திரையடைந்தபின்பு, அவனை எருசலேம் நகரத்தில் அடக்கம்பண்ணினார்கள்; ஆனாலும் இஸ்ரவேல் ராஜாக்களின் கல்லறைகளில் அவனைக் கொண்டுவந்து வைக்கவில்லை; அவன் குமாரனாகிய எசேக்கியா அவன் ஸ்தானத்தில் ராஜாவானான்.

ஆகாஸ் இறந்தபின்பு, அவனை எருசலேம் நகரத்தில் அடக்கம்செய்தார்கள்; ஆனாலும் இஸ்ரவேல் ராஜாக்களின் கல்லறைகளில் அவனை அடக்கம் செய்யவில்லை; அவன் மகனாகிய எசேக்கியா அவனுடைய இடத்தில் ராஜாவானான்.

ஆகாஸ் மரித்ததும் அவனை அவனது முற்பிதாக்களுக்கு அருகில் அடக்கம் செய்தனர். ஜனங்கள் அவனை எருசலேம் நகரிலேயே அடக்கம் செய்தனர். ஆனால் அவனை இஸ்ரவேல் அரசர்களை அடக்கம் செய்யும் இடத்துக்கருகில் அடக்கம் செய்யவில்லை. ஆகாசின் இடத்தில் புதிய அரசனாக எசேக்கியா வந்தான். எசேக்கியா ஆகாசின் மகன்.
