அப்பொழுது யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோவாஸ், தன் பிதாக்களாகிய யோசபாத் யோராம் அகசியா என்னும் யூதாவின் ராஜாக்கள் பரிசுத்தம்பண்ணி வைத்த எல்லாவற்றையும், தான் பரிசுத்தம் பண்ணிவைத்ததையும், கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திலும் ராஜாவின் அரமனையிலுமுள்ள பொக்கிஷங்களில் அகப்பட்ட பொன் யாவையும் எடுத்து சீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆசகேலுக்கு அனுப்பினான்; அப்பொழுது அவன் எருசலேமை விட்டுத் திரும்பிப் போனான்.

அப்பொழுது யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய யோவாஸ், தன் முன்னோர்களாகிய யோசபாத், யோராம், அகசியா என்னும் யூதாவின் ராஜாக்கள் பரிசுத்தம்செய்துவைத்த எல்லாவற்றையும், தான் பரிசுத்தம் செய்துவைத்ததையும், கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திலும் ராஜாவின் அரண்மனையிலுமுள்ள பொக்கிஷங்களில் கிடைத்த பொன் எல்லாவற்றையும் எடுத்து சீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆசகேலுக்கு அனுப்பினான்; அப்பொழுது அவன் எருசலேமைவிட்டுத் திரும்பிப்போனான்.

யோசபாத், யோராம், அகசியா ஆகியோர் முன்பு யூதாவை ஆண்டனர். இவர்கள் யோவாசின் முற்பிதாக்கள். அவர்கள் கர்த்தருக்கு நிறைய பொருட்களைக் கொடுத்திருந்தனர். அவை ஆலயத்தில் இருந்தன. யோவாசும் ஆலயத்திற்குப் பொருட்களைக் கொடுத்திருந்தான். யோவாஸ் தன் அரண்மனை வீட்டிலும் ஆலயத்திலும் இருந்த பொன்னையும் பொருளையும் சேர்த்து ஆராம் (சீரியா) அரசன் ஆசகேலுக்குக் கொடுத்தனுப்பினான். ஆசகேல் எருசலேமுக்கு எதிராகப் போரிடவில்லை. அவன் வெளியேப் போனான்.

எனவே, யூதாவின் அரசன் யோவாசு தன் முன்னோர்களாகிய யூதா அரசர்கள் யோசபாத்து, யோராம், அகசியா ஆகியோர் நேர்ந்தளித்த காணிக்கைப் பொருள்கள் அனைத்தையும், தான் நேர்ந்தளித்திருந்த காணிக்கைகளையும் ஆண்டவர் இல்லம், அரச மாளிகை இவற்றின் கருவூலங்களில் காணப்பட்ட தங்கம் அனைத்தையும் எடுத்து சிரியா மன்னன் அசாவேலுக்கு அனுப்பினான். எனவே, அசாவேல் எருசலேமை விட்டுத் திரும்பிச் சென்றான்.
