அப்பொழுது இல்க்கியாவின் குமாரன் எலியாக்கீமும் செப்னாவும் யோவாகும் ரப்சாக்கேயைப் பார்த்து: உமது அடியாரோடே சீரியபாஷையிலே பேசும், அது எங்களுக்குத் தெரியும்; அலங்கத்திலிருக்கிற ஜனத்தின் செவிகள் கேட்க எங்களோடே யூதபாஷையிலே பேசவேண்டாம் என்றார்கள்.

அப்பொழுது இல்க்கியாவின் மகன் எலியாக்கீமும், செப்னாவும், யோவாகும், ரப்சாக்கேயைப் பார்த்து: உமது அடியார்களோடு சீரியமொழியிலே பேசும், அந்த மொழி எங்களுக்குத் தெரியும்; மதிலிலிருக்கிற மக்களின் காதுகள் கேட்க எங்களோடே யூதமொழியிலே பேசவேண்டாம் என்றார்கள்.

அப்போது இல்க்கியாவின் மகனான எலியாக், செப்னா, யோவாக் மூவரும் தளபதியான ரப்சாக்கேயைப் பார்த்து, “எங்களோடு தயவு செய்து ஆராமிக் மொழியில் பேசும். அந்த மொழிதான் எங்களுக்குப் புரியும். யூதமொழியில் எங்களோடு பேசவேண்டாம். ஏனெனில் சுவரிலுள்ள ஜனங்களின் காதுகளும் அவற்றைக் கேட்கும்!” என்றார்கள்.

Then said Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and Shebna, and Joah, unto Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray thee, to thy servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it: and talk not with us in the Jews’ language in the ears of the people that are on the wall.
