அம்மோன் புத்திரரின் பிரபுக்கள் தங்கள் ஆண்டவனாகிய ஆனூனைப் பார்த்து தாவீது ஆறுதல் சொல்லுகிறவர்களை உம்மிடத்தில் அனுப்பினது, உம்முடைய தகப்பனைக் கனம்பண்ணுகிறதாய் உமக்குத் தோன்றுகிறதோ? இந்தப் பட்டணத்தை ஆராய்ந்து, உளவுபார்த்து அதைக் கவிழ்த்துப்போட அல்லவோ தாவீது தன் ஊழியக்காரரை உம்மிடத்திற்கு அனுப்பினான் என்றார்கள்.

ஆனால் அம்மோனின் அதிகாரிகள் தங்கள் ஆண்டவனாகிய ஆனூனை நோக்கி, “உங்களுக்கு ஆறுதல் கூறுவதற்குச் சில அதிகாரிகளை அனுப்புவதால் தாவீது உங்களைப் பெருமைப்படுத்துவதாக நீர் நினைக்கிறீரா? இல்லை! உங்கள் நகரத்தைக் குறித்து உளவறிந்து கொள்வதற்காக தாவீது இந்த ஆட்களை அனுப்பியிருக்கிறான். உங்களுக்கு எதிராக போரிடுவதற்கான திட்டம் இதுவாகும்” என்றார்கள்.
