அப்பொழுது தாவீது எருசலேமிலே தன்னிடத்திலுள்ள தன்னுடைய எல்லா ஊழியக்காரரையும் நோக்கி: எழுந்து ஓடிப்போவோம், இல்லாவிட்டால் நாம் அப்சலோமுக்குத் தப்ப இடமில்லை; அவன் தீவிரித்து நம்மிடத்தில் வந்து, நம்மைப் பிடித்து, நம்மேல் பொல்லாப்பு வரப்பண்ணி, நகரத்தைப் பட்டயக்கருக்கினால் சங்காரம்பண்ணாதபடிக்குத் தீவிரமாய்ப் புறப்படுங்கள் என்றான்.

அப்பொழுது தாவீது எருசலேமிலே தன்னிடத்தில் உள்ள தன்னுடைய எல்லா வேலைக்காரர்களையும் நோக்கி: எழுந்து ஓடிப்போவோம், இல்லாவிட்டால் நாம் அப்சலோமுக்குத் தப்ப இடமில்லை; அவன் விரைவாக நம்மிடம் வந்து, நம்மைப் பிடித்து, நம்மேல் தீங்கு வரச்செய்து, நகரத்தைக் கூர்மையான பட்டயத்தால் அழிக்காதபடி விரைவாகப் புறப்படுங்கள் என்றான்.

அப்போது தாவீது எருசலேமில் தன்னோடிருந்த அதிகாரிகளை நோக்கி, “நாம் தப்பித்து விட வேண்டும். நாம் தப்பிக்காவிட்டால் அப்சலோம் நம்மை விட்டுவிடமாட்டான். அப்சலோம் நம்மைப் பிடிக்கும் முன்னர் விரைவாய் செயல்படுவோம். அவன் நம் எல்லோரையும் அழிப்பான் அவன் எருசலேம் ஜனங்களை அழிப்பான்” என்றான்.

And David said unto all his servants that were with him at Jerusalem, Arise, and let us flee; for we shall not else escape from Absalom: make speed to depart, lest he overtake us suddenly, and bring evil upon us, and smite the city with the edge of the sword.
