அப்பொழுது ராஜா எழுந்துபோய், ஒலிமுகவாசலில் உட்கார்ந்தான்; இதோ, ராஜா ஒலிமுகவாசலில் உட்கார்ந்திருக்கிறார் என்று சகல ஜனங்களுக்கும் அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது, ஜனங்கள் எல்லாரும் ராஜாவுக்கு முன்பாக வந்தார்கள்; இஸ்ரவேலரோவெனில் அவரவர் தங்கள் கூடாரங்களுக்கு ஓடிப்போனார்கள்.

அப்பொழுது ராஜா எழுந்துபோய், நகரவாசலில் உட்கார்ந்தான்; இதோ, ராஜா நகரவாசலில் உட்கார்ந்திருக்கிறார் என்று எல்லா மக்களுக்கும் அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது, மக்கள் எல்லோரும் ராஜாவுக்கு முன்பாக வந்தார்கள்; இஸ்ரவேலர்களோ தங்களுடைய வீடுகளுக்கு ஓடிப்போனார்கள்.

அப்போது அரசன் நகரவாயிலுக்குச் சென்றான். அரசன் வாயிலருகே வந்துள்ளான் என்ற செய்தி பரவியது. எனவே எல்லோரும் அரசனைக் காண வந்தனர். அப்சலோமைப் பின்பற்றிய இஸ்ரவேலர் வீடுகளுக்கு ஓடிப்போய் விட்டனர்.
