அப்னேர் இஸ்போசேத்தின் வார்த்தைகளுக்காக மிகவும் கோபங் கொண்டு: உம்மைத் தாவீதின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடாமல் இந்நாள்மட்டும் உம்முடைய தகப்பனாகிய சவுலின் குடும்பத்துக்கும், அவருடைய சகோதரருக்கும் சிநேகிதருக்கும் தயவுசெய்கிறவனாகிய என்னை நீர் இன்று ஒரு ஸ்திரீயினிமித்தம் குற்றம்பிடிக்கிறதற்கு, நான் யூதாவுக்கு உட்கையான ஒரு நாய்த்தலையா?

இஸ்போசேத் இவ்வாறு கேட்டதால் அப்னேர் கோபமடைந்தான் அப்னேர், “நான் சவுலுக்கும் அவனது குடும்பத்துக்கும் உண்மையுள்ளவனாக இருந்தேன். நான் உன்னைத் தாவீதிடம் ஒப்படைக்கவில்லை. அவன் உன்னைத் தோற்கடிக்க அனுமதிக்கவில்லை. நான் யூதாவுக்காக உழைக்கும் வஞ்சகன் அல்ல. நான் இத்தீயக் காரியத்தைச் செய்ததாக நீ கூறிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறாய்.
