எஸ்தர் 3:6
ஆனாலும் மொர்தெகாயின்மேல் மாத்திரம் கைபோடுவது அவனுக்கு அற்பக் காரியமாகக் கண்டது; மொர்தெகாயின் ஜனங்கள் இன்னாரென்று ஆமானுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தபடியால் அகாஸ்வேருவின் ராஜ்யமெங்கும் இருக்கிற மொர்தெகாயின் ஜனமாகிய யூதரையெல்லாம் சங்கரிக்க அவன் வகைதேடினான்.

ஆனாலும் மொர்தெகாயை மட்டும் கொல்லுவது அவனுக்கு அற்பமான காரியமாக இருந்தது; மொர்தெகாயின் மக்கள் இன்னாரென்று ஆமானுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தபடியால், அகாஸ்வேருவின் ராஜ்ஜியமெங்கும் இருக்கிற மொர்தெகாயின் மக்களாகிய யூதர்களையெல்லாம் அழிக்க அவன் திட்டம் தீட்டினான்.

மொர்தெகாய் ஒரு யூதன் என்பதை ஆமான் அறிந்திருந்தான். ஆனால் அவன் மொர்தெகாயை மட்டும் கொன்றுவிடுவதில் திருப்தியடையவில்லை. ஆமான், மொர்தெகாயின் ஆட்களையும், அகாஸ்வேருவின் இராஜ்ஜியம் முழுவதுமுள்ள யூதர்களையும் அழிக்க ஒரு வழிவேண்டும் என்று விரும்பினான்.
