அப்படியே அவன் தாயின் சகோதரர் சீகேமிலிருக்கிற சகல பெரிய மனுஷரின் காதுகளும் கேட்க இந்த வார்த்தைகளையெல்லாம் அவனுக்காகப் பேசினார்கள்; அப்பொழுது: அவன் நம்முடைய சகோதரன் என்று அவர்கள் சொன்னதினால், அவர்கள் இருதயம் அபிமெலேக்கைப் பின்பற்றச் சாய்ந்தது.

அபிமெலேக்கின் மாமன்மார் சீகேமின் தலைவர்களைக் சந்தித்து இக்கேள்வியைக் கேட்டார்கள். சீகேமின் தலைவர்கள் அபிமெலேக்கைப் பின்பற்ற முடிவெடுத்தனர். தலைவர்கள், “எவ்வாறாயினும் அவன் நமக்குச் சகோதரன்” என்றார்கள்.
