அதற்குப் பெரிதும் உயரமுமான மதிலும், கிழக்கே மூன்று வாசல்கள், வடக்கே மூன்று வாசல்கள், தெற்கே மூன்று வாசல்கள், மேற்கே மூன்று வாசல்கள் ஆகப் பன்னிரண்டு வாசல்களும் இருந்தன.

அது தன்னைச் சுற்றிலும் மிகவும் உயர்ந்த பன்னிரண்டு வாசல்களையுடைய மாபெரும் மதிலைக் கொண்டிருந்தது. அந்தப் பன்னிரண்டு வாசல்களிலும், பன்னிரண்டு தேவ தூதர்கள் இருந்தார்கள். ஒவ்வொரு வாசலிலும் இஸ்ரவேலில் உள்ள பன்னிரண்டு குடும்பங்களில் ஒரு குடும்பத்தின் பெயர் எழுதப்பட்டிருந்தது.
