விக்கிரகங்களை நாடாமலும் வார்ப்பிக்கப்பட்ட தெய்வங்களை உங்களுக்கு உண்டாக்காமலும் இருப்பீர்களாக; நான் உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர்.

நீர் ஆதியிலே பூமியை அஸ்திபாரப்படுத்தினீர்; வானங்கள் உம்முடைய கரத்தின் கிரியையாயிருக்கிறது.

வானங்களைச் சிருஷ்டித்து, அவைகளை விரித்து, பூமியையும், அதிலே உற்பத்தியாகிறவைகளையும் பரப்பினவரும், அதில் இருக்கிற ஜனத்துக்குக் சுவாசத்தையும், அதில் நடமாடுகிறவர்களுக்கு ஆவியையும் கொடுக்கிறவருமான கர்த்தராகிய தேவன் சொல்லுகிறதாவது.

உன் மீட்பரும், தாயின் கர்ப்பத்தில் உன்னை உருவாக்கினவருமான கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறதாவது: நானே எல்லாவற்றையும் செய்கிற கர்த்தர், நான் ஒருவராய் வானங்களை விரித்து, நானே பூமியைப் பரப்பினவர்.

அவர்களுடைய விக்கிரகங்கள் வெள்ளியும் பொன்னும், மனுஷருடைய கைவேலையுமாயிருக்கிறது.

உங்கள் கண்களை ஏறெடுத்துப்பாருங்கள்; அவைகளைச் சிருஷ்டித்தவர் யார்? அவர் அவைகளின் சேனையை இலக்கத்திட்டமாகப் புறப்படப்பண்ணி, அவைகளையெல்லாம் பேர்பேராக அழைக்கிறவராமே; அவருடைய மகா பெலத்தினாலும், அவருடைய மகா வல்லமையினாலும் அவைகளில் ஒன்றும் குறையாமலிருக்கிறது.

விக்கிரகங்களை உருவாக்குகிற யாவரும் வீணர்; அவர்களால் இச்சிக்கப்பட்டவைகள் ஒன்றுக்கும் உதவாது; அவைகள் ஒன்றும் காணாமலும், ஒன்றும் அறியாமலும் இருக்கிறதென்று தங்களுக்கு வெட்கமுண்டாக அவைகளுக்குத் தாங்களே சாட்சிகளாயிருக்கிறார்கள்.

கர்த்தரோ மெய்யான தெய்வம்; அவர் ஜீவனுள்ள தேவன், நித்திய ராஜா; அவருடைய கோபத்தினால் பூமி அதிரும்; அவருடைய உக்கிரத்தை ஜாதிகள் சகிக்கமாட்டார்கள்.

இப்படியிருக்க, கைகளினால் செய்யப்பட்ட தேவர்கள் தேவர்களல்லவென்று இந்தப் பவுல் என்பவன் சொல்லி, எபேசுவிலேமாத்திரமல்ல, கொஞ்சங்குறைய ஆசியா எங்கும் அநேக ஜனங்களுக்குப் போதித்து, அவர்களை வசப்படுத்திக்கொண்டான் என்று நீங்கள் கண்டும் கேட்டும் இருக்கிறீர்கள்.

விக்கிரகங்களுக்குப் படைக்கப்பட்டவைகளைப் புசிக்கிற விஷயத்தைப்பற்றி, உலகத்திலே விக்கிரகமானது ஒன்றுமில்லையென்றும் ஒருவரேயன்றி வேறொரு தேவன் இல்லையென்றும் அறிந்திருக்கிறோம்.

மிகுந்த சத்தமிட்டு: தேவனுக்குப் பயந்து, அவரை மகிமைப்படுத்துங்கள்; அவர் நியாயத்தீர்ப்புக்கொடுக்கும் வேளை வந்தது; வானத்தையும் பூமியையும் சமுத்திரத்தையும் நீரூற்றுகளையும் உண்டாக்கினவரையே தொழுதுகொள்ளுங்களென்று கூறினான்.
