அப்சலோம், யோவாபுக்குப் பதிலாக அமாசாவை இராணுவத்தலைவனாக்கினான்; இந்த அமாசா, நாகாசின் குமாரத்தியும் செருயாவின் சகோதரியும் யோவாபின் அத்தையுமாகிய அபிகாயிலைப் படைத்த இஸ்ரவேலனாகிய எத்திரா என்னும் பேருள்ள ஒரு மனுஷனுடைய குமாரனாயிருந்தான்.

நீங்கள் அமாசாவையும் நோக்கி: நீ என் எலும்பும் என் மாம்சமும் அல்லவோ? நீ யோவாபுக்குப் பதிலாக எந்நாளும் எனக்கு முன்பாகப் படைத்தலைவனாயிராவிட்டால், தேவன் அதற்குச் சரியாகவும் அதற்கு அதிகமாகவும் எனக்குச் செய்யக்கடவர் என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னான்.

பின்பு ராஜா அமாசாவைப் பார்த்து: நீ யூதா மனுஷரை மூன்று நாளைக்குள்ளே என்னிடத்தில் வரவழைத்து, நீயும் கூடவந்து இருக்கவேண்டும் என்றான்.

செருயாவின் குமாரனாகிய யோவாப், இஸ்ரவேலின் இரண்டு சேனாபதிகளாகிய நேரின் குமாரன் அப்னேருக்கும், ஏத்தேரின் குமாரன் அமாசாவுக்கும் செய்தகாரியத்தினால் எனக்குச் செய்த குற்றத்தை நீ அறிந்திருக்கிறாயே; அவன் அவர்களைக் கொன்று, சமாதானகாலத்திலே யுத்தகாலத்து இரத்தத்தைச் சிந்தி, யுத்தகாலத்து இரத்தத்தைத் தன் அரையிலுள்ள தன் கால்களில் இருந்த பாதரட்சையிலும் வடியவிட்டானே.

அவன் தன்னைப்பார்க்கிலும் நீதியும் நற்குணமுமுள்ள இரண்டுபேராகிய நேரின் குமாரன் அப்னேர் என்னும் இஸ்ரவேலின் படைத்தலைவன் மேலும், ஏதேரின் குமாரன் அமாசா என்னும் யூதாவின் படைத்தலைவன்மேலும் விழுந்து, என் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதுக்குத் தெரியாமல் அவர்களைப் பட்டயத்தால் கொன்ற அவனுடைய இரத்தப்பழியைக் கர்த்தர் அவனுடைய தலையின்மேல் திரும்பப்பண்ணுவாராக.
