அப்பொழுது தாவீது கர்த்தரை நோக்கி: கொடிய இடுக்கணில் அகப்பட்டிருக்கிறேன்; இப்போது நான் கர்த்தருடைய கையிலே விழுவேனாக; அவருடைய இரக்கங்கள் மகா பெரியது; மனுஷர் கையிலே விழாதிருப்பேனாக என்றான்.

அப்பொழுது தாவீது காத்தை நோக்கி: கொடிய பிரச்சனையில் அகப்பட்டிருக்கிறேன்; இப்போது நான் கர்த்தருடைய கையிலே விழுவேனாக; அவருடைய இரக்கங்கள் மிகப்பெரியது; மனிதர்கள் கையிலே விழாமல் இருப்பேனாக என்றான்.

தாவீது காத்திடம், “நான் இக்கட்டில் அகப்பட்டுக்கொண்டேன்! என்னை மனிதர்களின் கைகளில் அகப்பட்டுக்கொள்ளவிடாதே. மனிதர்கள் என் தண்டனையை முடிவுசெய்வதை நான் விரும்பவில்லை. கர்த்தர் இரக்கம் உள்ளவர், எனவே அவரே என் தண்டனையை முடிவுசெய்யட்டும்” என்றான்.

தாவீது காத்தை நோக்கி, “நான் மிகவும் இக்கட்டான சூழ்நிலையில் உள்ளேன்; ஆண்டவர் கையில் நான் சரண் அடைவதே மேல்! ஏனெனில், அவர் மிகவும் இரக்கம் உள்ளவர். மனிதர் கையில் நான் அகப்படக்கூடாது” என்றார்.⒫
