ஆசரிப்புக் கூடாரத்தின் காவலையும் பரிசுத்த ஸ்தலத்தின் காவலையும் தங்கள் சகோதரராகிய ஆரோனுடைய குமாரரின் காவலையும் காப்பதும், கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தின் பணிவிடையைச் செய்வதும் அவர்கள் வேலையாயிருந்தது.

ஆசரிப்புக் கூடாரத்தின் காவலையும் பரிசுத்த இடத்தின் காவலையும் தங்களுடைய சகோதரர்களாகிய ஆரோனுடைய மகன்களின் காவலையும் காப்பதும், கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தின் பணிவிடையைச் செய்வதும், அவர்கள் வேலையாக இருந்தது.

லேவியர்கள் எதையெதைச் செய்யவேண்டும் என்று எதிர்பார்க்கப்படுகிறார்களோ, அவற்றையெல்லாம் செய்தனர். பரிசுத்தக் கூடாரத்தின் பொறுப்பை எடுத்துக்கொண்டனர். பரிசுத்த இடத்தின் பொறுப்பையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டனர். அவர்கள் ஆரோனின் சந்ததியினர். தமது உறவினர்களுக்கும், ஆசாரியர்களுக்கும் உதவினார்கள். கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தில் பணி விடைகளை ஆசாரியர்களுக்கு உதவியாகச் செய்து வந்தனர்.

ஆண்டவர் தங்கும் சந்திப்புக் கூடாரத்தையும், திருத்தலத்தையும் கண்காணிக்கவும், ஆரோனின் வழிமரபில் வந்த அவர்கள் சகோதரரான குருக்களுக்கு ஆண்டவரின் இல்லப் பணியில் உதவி செய்யவும் வேண்டும்.
