எப்படியெனில், தேவஞானத்துக்கேற்றபடி உலகமானது சுயஞானத்தினாலே தேவனை அறியாதிருக்கையில், பைத்தியமாகத் தோன்றுகிற பிரசங்கத்தினாலே விசுவாசிகளை இரட்சிக்க தேவனுக்குப் பிரியமாயிற்று.

எப்படியென்றால், தேவஞானத்துக்கேற்றபடி உலகமானது சுயஞானத்தினாலே தேவனை அறியாமல் இருந்ததினால், பைத்தியமாகத் தோன்றுகிற பிரசங்கத்தினாலே விசுவாசிகளை இரட்சிக்க தேவனுக்குப் பிரியமானது.

தேவன் தனது ஞானத்தினால் விரும்பியது இதுவே: உலகத்தின் ஞானத்தால், உலகம் தேவனைக் கண்டுகொள்ள முடியவில்லை. தேவனை விசுவாசிக்கிற மக்களைக் காக்கும்பொருட்டு மடமையாய்த் தோன்றும் தனது செய்தியை தேவன் பயன்படுத்தினார்.

கடவுளுடைய ஞானத்தால் அவரை அறிந்து கொள்ளமுடியும். ஆனால், உலகினர் தம் ஞானத்தால் கடவுளை அறிந்து கொள்ளவில்லை. எனவே, மடமை என்று கருதப்பட்ட நற்செய்தியைப் பறைசாற்றியதன் வழியாக நம்பிக்கை கொண்டோரை மீட்கக் கடவுள் திருவுளம் கொண்டார்.

For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

For seeing that in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom knew not God, it was God’s good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save them that believe.
