அநேகங் கள்ளத்தீர்க்கதரிசிகள் தோன்றியிருப்பதினால், நீங்கள் எல்லா ஆவிகளையும் நம்பாமல், அந்த ஆவிகள் தேவனாலுண்டானவைகளோ என்று சோதித்தறியுங்கள்.

அவர்கள் அந்த மலைக்கு வந்த போது, இதோ, தீர்க்கதரிசிகளின் கூட்டம் அவனுக்கு எதிராக வந்தது; அப்பொழுது தேவனுடைய ஆவி அவன்மேல் இறங்கினதினால், அவனும் அவர்களுக்குள்ளே தீர்க்கதரிசனம் சொன்னான்.

எரிகோவிலிருந்த தீர்க்கதரிசிகளின் புத்திரர் எலிசாவினிடத்தில் வந்து: இன்றைக்குக் கர்த்தர் உனக்குத் தலைமையாயிருக்கிற உன் எஜமானை உன்னைவிட்டு எடுத்துக்கொள்வார் என்பது உனக்குத் தெரியுமா என்று அவனைக் கேட்டார்கள். அதற்கு அவன்: எனக்குத் தெரியும், சும்மா இருங்கள் என்றான்.

ஆனாலும் மனுஷரில் ஒரு ஆவியுண்டு; சர்வவல்லவருடைய சுவாசமே அவர்களை உணர்வுள்ளவர்களாக்கும்.

ஆதலால் நான் அவரைப் பிரஸ்தாபம்பண்ணாமலும் இனிக் கர்த்தருடைய நாமத்திலே பேசாமலும் இருப்பேன் என்றேன்; ஆனாலும் அவருடைய வார்த்தை என் எலும்புகளில் அடைபட்டு எரிகிற அக்கினியைப்போல் என் இருதயத்தில் இருந்தது; அதைச் சகித்து இளைத்துப்போனேன்; எனக்குப் பொறுக்கக் கூடாமற்போயிற்று.

பேதுருவும் யோவானும் அவர்களுக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: தேவனுக்குச் செவிகொடுக்கிறதைப்பார்க்கிலும் உங்களுக்குச் செவிகொடுக்கிறது தேவனுக்கு முன்பாக நியாயமாயிருக்குமோ நீங்களே நிதானித்துப்பாருங்கள்.
