மனுஷனிலுள்ள ஆவியேயன்றி மனுஷரில் எவன் மனுஷனுக்குரியவைகளை அறிவான்? அப்படிப்போல, தேவனுடைய ஆவியேயன்றி, ஒருவனும் தேவனுக்குரியவைகளை அறியமாட்டான்.

மனிதனிலுள்ள ஆவியேதவிர மனிதர்களில் எவன் மனிதனுக்குரியவைகளை அறிவான்? அதைப்போல, தேவ ஆவியானவரைத்தவிர, ஒருவனும் தேவனுக்குரியவைகளை அறியமாட்டான்.

அதை இப்படி விளக்கலாம்: ஒருவர் அடுத்தவருடைய எண்ணங்களை அறிய முடியாது. அவனுக்குள்ளிருக்கிற அவனுடைய ஆவியே அறியும். அதுவே தேவனுக்கும் பொருந்தும். தேவனுடைய ஆவியானவர்தான் அந்த எண்ணங்களை அறிவார்.

திருவிவிலியம்
மனிதரின் உள்ளத்திலிருப்பதை அவருள்ளிருக்கும் மனமேயன்றி வேறு எவரும் அறியமுடியாது அன்றோ! அவ்வாறே, கடவுள் உள்ளத்திலிருப்பதை அவர் தம் ஆவியே அன்றி வேறு எவரும் அறியார்.

For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
