அவர் ஞானிகளை அவர்களுடைய தந்திரத்திலே பிடிக்கிறார், திரியாவரக்காரரின் ஆலோசனை கவிழ்க்கப்படும்.

துன்மார்க்கர் தங்கள் வலைகளில் அகப்படுவார்களாக; நானோ அதற்குத் தப்பிக் கடந்துபோவேன்.

அவர்கள் தேவனை அறிந்தும், அவரைத் தேவனென்று மகிமைப்படுத்தாமலும், ஸ்தோத்திரியாமலுமிருந்து, தங்கள் சிந்தனைகளினாலே வீணரானார்கள், உணர்வில்லாத அவர்களுடைய இருதயம் இருளடைந்தது.

அப்படியிருந்தும், தேறினவர்களுக்குள்ளே ஞானத்தைப் பேசுகிறோம்; இப்பிரபஞ்சத்தின் ஞானத்தையல்ல, அழிந்துபோகிறவர்களாகிய இப்பிரபஞ்சத்தின் பிரபுக்களுடைய ஞானத்தையுமல்ல,

நான் கட்டுக்கதைக்காரரின் குறிகளை அபத்தமாக்கி, குறிசொல்லுகிறவர்களை நிர்மூடராக்கி, ஞானிகளை வெட்கப்படுத்தி, அவர்கள் அறிவைப் பைத்தியமாகப் பண்ணுகிறவர்.

அந்தப்படி: ஞானிகளுடைய ஞானத்தை நான் அழித்து, புத்திசாலிகளுடைய புத்தியை அவமாக்குவேனென்று எழுதியிருக்கிறது.

ஜாதிகள் தாங்கள் வெட்டின குழியில் தாங்களே விழுந்தார்கள்; அவர்கள் மறைவாய் வைத்த வலையில் அவர்களுடைய காலே அகப்பட்டுக்கொண்டது.

ஆதலால் இதோ, நான் அற்புதமும் ஆச்சரியமுமான பிரகாரமாக இந்த ஜனங்களுக்குள்ளே ஒரு அதிசயத்தைச் செய்வேன்; அவர்களுடைய ஞானிகளின் ஞானம் கெட்டு, அவர்களுடைய விவேகிகளின் விவேகம் மறந்துபோகும் என்று ஆண்டவர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

அப்சலோமோடே கட்டுப்பாடுபண்ணினவர்களுடன் அகித்தோப்பேலும் சேர்ந்திருக்கிறான் என்று தாவீதுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது, தாவீது, கர்த்தாவே, அகித்தோப்பேலின் ஆலோசனையைப் பயித்தியமாக்கிவிடுவீராக என்றான்.

அந்நாட்களில் அகித்தோப்பேல் சொல்லும் ஆலோசனையெல்லாம் தேவனுடைய வாக்கைப்போல இருந்தது, அப்படியே அகித்தோப்பேலின் ஆலோசனையெல்லாம் தாவீதுக்கும் இருந்தது, அப்சலோமுக்கும் அப்படியே இருந்தது.

அப்பொழுது அப்சலோமும் இஸ்ரவேல் மனுஷர் அனைவரும்: அகித்தோப்பேலின் ஆலோசனையைப்பார்க்கிலும் அற்கியனாகிய ஊசாயின் ஆலோசனை நல்லது என்றார்கள்; இப்படி கர்த்தர் அப்சலோமின்மேல் பொல்லாப்பை வரப்பண்ணும்பொருட்டு, அகித்தோப்பேலின் நல்லஆலோசனையை அபத்தமாக்குகிறதற்குக் கர்த்தர் கட்டளையிட்டார்.

அகித்தோப்பேல் தன் யோசனையின்படி நடக்கவில்லை என்று கண்டபோது, தன் கழுதையின்மேல் சேணம் வைத்து ஏறி, தன் ஊரிலிருக்கிற தன் வீட்டுக்குப்போய், தன் வீட்டுக்காரியங்களை ஒழுங்குபடுத்தி, நான்றுகொண்டு செத்தான்; அவன் தகப்பன் கல்லறையில் அவனை அடக்கம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

அப்படியே ஆமான் மொர்தெகாய்க்கு ஆயத்தம்பண்ணின தூக்குமரத்தில் ஆமானையே தூக்கிப்போட்டார்கள்; அப்பொழுது ராஜாவின் உக்கிரம் தணிந்தது.
