சகோதரரே, எழுதப்பட்டதற்கு மிஞ்சி எண்ணவேண்டாமென்று நீங்கள் எங்களாலே கற்றுக்கொள்ளவும், ஒருவனும் ஒருவனிமித்தம் மற்றொருவனுக்கு விரோதமாய் இறுமாப்படையாதிருக்கவும், நான் உங்கள்நிமித்தம் என்னையும் அப்பொல்லோவையும் திருஷ்டாந்தமாக வைத்து, இவைகளை எழுதினேன்.

சகோதரர்களே, எழுதப்பட்டதற்கு அதிகமாக நினைக்கவேண்டாமென்று நீங்கள் எங்களாலே கற்றுக்கொள்ளவும், ஒருவனும் ஒருவனிமித்தம் மற்றொருவனுக்கு விரோதமாக கர்வமடையாதிருக்கவும், நான் உங்கள்நிமித்தம் என்னையும் அப்பொல்லோவையும் ஆதாரமாக வைத்து, இவைகளை எழுதினேன்.

சகோதர சகோதரிகளே! அப்பொல்லோவையும், என்னையும் இவற்றில் உதாரணங்களாக நான் உங்களுக்குக் காட்டினேன். எழுதப்பட்டுள்ள சொற்களின் பொருளை எங்களிடமிருந்து நீங்கள் அறிந்துகொள்ளுமாறு இதைச் செய்தேன். “வேத வாக்கியங்களில் எழுதி இருப்பதைப் பின்பற்றி நடவுங்கள்.” அப்போது நீங்கள் ஒருவனைக் குறித்துப் பெருமை பாராட்டி, இன்னொருவனை வெறுக்கமாட்டீர்கள்.

சகோதர சகோதரிகளே, உங்கள் பொருட்டு என்னையும் அப்பொல்லோவையும் எடுத்துக்காட்டாகக் கொண்டு இவற்றைக் கூறினேன். ஏனெனில், “எழுதியுள்ளதற்கு மேல் போகாதே” என்பதின் பொருளை எங்களைப் பார்த்துக் கற்றுக்கொள்ளுங்கள். ஒருவரை ஆதரித்தும் மற்றவரை எதிர்த்தும் செயல்படாதீர்கள்; இறுமாப்புக் கொள்ளாதீர்கள்.
