நான் உங்களுக்கு எழுதினதென்னவென்றால், சகோதரனென்னப்பட்ட ஒருவன் விபசாரக்காரனாயாவது, பொருளாசைக்காரனாயாவது, விக்கிரகாராதனைக்காரனாயாவது, உதாசினனாயாவது, வெறியனாயாவது, கொள்ளைக்காரனாயாவது இருந்தால், அவனோடே கலந்திருக்கக்கூடாது; அப்படிப்பட்டவனுடனேகூடப் புசிக்கவுங்கூடாது.

பொறாமைகள், கொலைகள், வெறிகள், களியாட்டுகள் முதலானவைகளே; இப்படிப்பட்டவைகளைச் செய்கிறவர்கள் தேவனுடைய ராஜ்யத்தைச் சுதந்தரிப்பதில்லையென்று முன்னே நான் சொன்னதுபோல இப்பொழுதும் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.

அதின் நடுவில் இருக்கிற அதின் பிரபுக்கள் இரை கவ்வுகிற ஓநாய்களைப்போல் இருக்கிறார்கள்; அநியாயமாய்ப் பொருள் சம்பாதிக்கிறதற்கு இரத்தஞ்சிந்துகிறார்கள், ஆத்துமாக்களைக் கொள்ளையிடுகிறார்கள்.

தேசத்தின் ஜனங்கள் இடுக்கண்செய்து, கொள்ளையடித்து, சிறுமையும் எளிமையுமானவனை ஒடுக்கி அந்நியனை அநியாயமாய்த் துன்பப்படுத்துகிறார்கள்.

சர்ப்பங்களே, விரியன்பாம்புக்குட்டிகளே! நரகாக்கினைக்கு எப்படித் தப்பித்துக்கொள்வீர்கள்?

சிட்சையை நீ பகைத்து, என் வார்த்தைகளை உனக்குப் பின்னாக எறிந்துபோடுகிறாய்.

உன் பிரபுக்கள் முரடரும் திருடரின் தோழருமாயிருக்கிறார்கள்; அவர்களில் ஒவ்வொருவனும் பரிதானத்தை விரும்பி, கைக்கூலியை நாடித்திரிகிறான்; திக்கற்ற பிள்ளையின் நியாயத்தை விசாரியார்கள்; விதவையின் வழக்கு அவர்களிடத்தில் ஏறுகிறதில்லை.

மாயக்காரராகிய வேதபாரகரே! பரிசேயரே! உங்களுக்கு ஐயோ, மனுஷர் பிரவேசியாதபடி பரலோகராஜ்யத்தைப் பூட்டிப்போடுகிறீர்கள்; நீங்கள் அதில் பிரவேசிக்கிறதுமில்லை பிரவேசிக்கப் போகிறவர்களைப் பிரவேசிக்கவிடுகிறதுமில்லை.

அவன் தரித்திரரைக் குறித்துக் கவலைப்பட்டு இப்படிச் சொல்லாமல், அவன் திருடனானபடியினாலும், பணப்பையை வைத்துக்கொண்டு அதிலே போடப்பட்டதைச் சுமக்கிறவனானபடியினாலும் இப்படிச் சொன்னான்.

திருடுகிறவன் இனித் திருடாமல், குறைச்சலுள்ளவனுக்குக் கொடுக்கத்தக்கதாகத் தனக்கு உண்டாயிருக்கும்படி, தன் கைகளினால் நலமான வேலைசெய்து, பிரயாசப்படக்கடவன்.

இந்த விஷயத்தில் ஒருவனும் மீறாமலும் தன் சகோதரனை வஞ்சியாமலும் இருக்கவேண்டும்; முன்னமே நாங்கள் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லி, சாட்சியாக எச்சரித்தபடியே இப்படிப்பட்ட விஷயங்களெல்லாவற்றையுங்குறித்துக் கர்த்தர் நீதியைச் சரிக்கட்டுகிறவராயிருக்கிறார்.

ஆதலால் உங்களில் ஒருவனும் கொலைபாதகனாயாவது, திருடனாயாவது, பொல்லாங்கு செய்தவனாயாவது, அந்நிய காரியங்களில் தலையிட்டுக்கொண்டவனாயாவது பாடுபடுகிறவனாயிருக்கக்கூடாது.

அப்பொழுது வழியருகே ஒரு அத்திமரத்தைக் கண்டு, அதனிடத்திற் போய், அதிலே இலைகளையன்றி வேறொன்றையும் காணாமல்: இனி ஒருக்காலும் உன்னிடத்தில் கனி உண்டாகாதிருக்கக்கடவது என்றார்; உடனே அத்திமரம் பட்டுப்போயிற்று.
