தேவனிடத்தில் அன்புகூருகிறேனென்று ஒருவன் சொல்லியும், தன் சகோதரனைப் பகைத்தால், அவன் பொய்யன்; தான் கண்ட சகோதரனிடத்தில் அன்புகூராமலிருக்கிறவன், தான் காணாத தேவனிடத்தில் எப்படி அன்புகூருவான்?

தேவனிடத்தில் அன்பு கூருகிறேனென்று ஒருவன் சொல்லியும், தன் சகோதரனைப் பகைத்தால், அவன் பொய்யன்; தான் கண்ட சகோதரனிடத்தில் அன்பு கூராமலிருக்கிறவன், தான் காணாத தேவனிடத்தில் எப்படி அன்பு செலுத்துவான்?

ஒருவன், “நான் தேவனை நேசிக்கிறேன்” என்று கூறியும், அம்மனிதன் கிறிஸ்துவில் அவனது சகோதரனையோ, சகோதரியையோ வெறுத்தால் அப்போது அம்மனிதன் பொய்யன் ஆகிறான். அம்மனிதன் தான் காண்கிற சகோதரனை நேசிப்பதில்லை. எனவே அவன் ஒருபோதும் கண்டிராத தேவனை நேசிக்க இயலாது.

திருவிவிலியம்
கடவுளிடம் அன்பு செலுத்துவதாகச் சொல்லிக் கொண்டு தம் சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளை வெறுப்போர் பொய்யர். தம் கண் முன்னேயுள்ள சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளிடம் அன்பு செலுத்தாதோர், கண்ணுக்குப் புலப்படாத கடவுளிடம் அன்பு செலுத்த முடியாது.

If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
