சீரியாவின் ராஜா தனக்கு இருக்கிற இரதங்களின் முப்பத்திரண்டு தலைவரையும் நோக்கி: நீங்கள் சிறியவரோடும் பெரியவரோடும் யுத்தம்பண்ணாமல் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா ஒருவனோடேமாத்திரம் யுத்தம்பண்ணுங்கள் என்று கட்டளையிட்டிருந்தான்.

சீரியா அரசனுக்கு 32 இரதப்படைத் தளபதிகள் இருந்தனர். அவர்களிடம் இஸ்ரவேல் அரசனைக் கண்டுபிடிக்குமாறு கட்டளையிட்டான். அரசனைக் கொன்றுவிட வேண்டும் என்றும் உத்தரவிட்டான்.
