அவன் தன் தகப்பனாகிய ஆசாவின் வழிகளிலெல்லாம் நடந்தான்; அவன் அதை விட்டு விலகாமல் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குச் செம்மையானதைச் செய்தான்; ஆகிலும் மேடைகள் தகர்க்கப்படவில்லை; ஜனங்கள் இன்னும் மேடைகளின்மேல் பலியிட்டுத் தூபங்காட்டிவந்தார்கள்.

அவன் தன்னுடைய தகப்பனாகிய ஆசாவின் வழிகளிலெல்லாம் நடந்தான்; அவன் அதைவிட்டு விலகாமல் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குச் செம்மையானதைச் செய்தான்; ஆனாலும் மேடைகள் இடிக்கப்படவில்லை; மக்கள் இன்னும் மேடைகளின்மேல் பலியிட்டுத் தூபம் காட்டிவந்தார்கள்.

யோசபாத் நல்லவன். அவன் முன்னோர்களைப்போன்று இருந்தான். கர்த்தருடைய விருப்பப்படி கீழ்ப்படிந்து நடந்தான். ஆனால் பொய்தெய்வங்களை தொழுதுகொள்ள அமைக்கப்பட்ட மேடைகளை அழிக்கவில்லை. ஜனங்கள் தொடாந்து அங்கு பலி செலுத்தி, நறுமணப் பொருட்களை எரித்துவந்தனர்.

திருவிவிலியம்
அவன் தன் தந்தை ஆசாவின் வழிகள் அனைத்திலும் நடந்தான். அவற்றினின்று அவன் பிறழவில்லை. ஆண்டவர் திருமுன் நேர்மையுடன் நடந்துகொண்டான். ஆயினும், அவன் தொழுகை மேடுகளை உடைத்தெறியவில்லை. மக்கள் அம்மேடைகளில் பலியிட்டுத் தூபம் காட்டி வந்தனர்.⒫

And he walked in all the ways of Asa his father; he turned not aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of the LORD: nevertheless the high places were not taken away; for the people offered and burnt incense yet in the high places.

And he walked in all the way of Asa his father; He turned not aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah: howbeit the high places were not taken away; the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.
