சாமுவேலைப் பார்த்து: நாங்கள் சாகாதபடிக்கு உம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரிடத்தில் உம்முடைய அடியாருக்காக விண்ணப்பம் செய்யும்; நாங்கள் செய்த எல்லாப் பாவங்களோடும் எங்களுக்கு ஒரு ராஜா வேண்டும் என்று கேட்ட இந்தப் பாவத்தையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டோம் என்று ஜனங்கள் எல்லாரும் சொன்னார்கள்.

அனைத்து ஜனங்களும் சாமுவேலிடம், “உம்முடைய அடியார்களாகிய எங்களுக்காக உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரிடம் ஜெபியுங்கள், நாங்கள் அழிந்துவிட விட்டு விடாதேயும்! நாங்கள் பலமுறை பாவம் செய்திருக்கிறோம். இப்போது அரசனைக் கேட்டு மேலும் பாவம் செய்து விட்டோம்” என்றனர்.

அனைத்து மக்களும் சாமுவேலை நோக்கி, “நாங்கள் சாகாவண்ணம், உம் அடியார்களுக்காக உம் கடவுளாகிய ஆண்டவரிடம் மன்றாடும். ஏனெனில், நாங்கள் செய்த பாவங்கள் அனைத்தோடும் எங்களுக்காக ஓர் அரசனைக் கேட்ட இந்தக் குற்றமும் சேர்ந்து கொண்டது” என்றனர்.⒫
