யோனத்தான் தன் தகப்பன் ஜனங்களுக்கு ஆணையிட்டதைக் கேள்விப்படவில்லை; அவன் தன் கையிலிருந்த கோலைநீட்டி, அதின் நுனியினாலே தேன்கூட்டைக் குத்தி, அதை எடுத்துத் தன் வாயிலே போட்டுக்கொண்டான்; அதினால் அவன் கண்கள் தெளிந்தது.

யோனத்தான் தன் தகப்பன் மக்களுக்கு ஆணையிட்டதைக் கேள்விப்படவில்லை; அவன் தன் கையிலிருந்த கோலை நீட்டி, அதின் நுனியினாலே தேன்கூட்டைக் குத்தி, அதை எடுத்துத் தன் வாயிலே போட்டான்; அதினால் அவனுடைய கண்கள் தெளிந்தது.

ஆனால் யோனத்தானுக்கு அவற்றைப்பற்றி எந்த விஷயமும் தெரியாது. உண்ணாமலிருக்க ஜனங்கள் நிர்பந்திக்கப்பட்டதைப்பற்றி அவன் எதுவும் அறிந்திருக்கவில்லை. யோனத்தானின் கையில் ஒரு கோல் இருந்தது. கோலின் ஒரு முனையைத்தேன் கூட்டில் நுழைத்து வெளியே எடுத்து, அத்தேனைப் பருகினான். பருகி முடிந்ததும் மிகவும் தெம்பாக இருப்பதாக உணர்ந்தான்.

ஆனால், தன் தந்தை மக்களுக்கு ஆணையிட்டுச் சொன்னதை யோனத்தான் கேள்விப் படவில்லை. ஆகவே, அவர் தம் கையிலிருந்த கோலை நீட்டி, அதன் நுனியால் தேன் கூட்டைக் குத்தி, கையில் எடுத்ததைத் தன் வாயில் வைத்தார். அவர் கண்கள் தெளிவடைந்தன.
