தாவீது அகிமெலேக்கைப் பார்த்து: இங்கே உம்முடைய வசத்தில் ஒரு ஈட்டியானாலும் பட்டயமானாலும் இல்லையா? ராஜாவின் காரியம் அவசரமானபடியினால், என் பட்டயத்தையாகிலும், என் ஆயுதங்களையாகிலும், நான் எடுத்துக் கொண்டுவரவில்லை என்றான்.

தாவீது அகிமெலேக்கைப் பார்த்து: இங்கே உம்முடைய வசத்தில் ஒரு ஈட்டியோ, பட்டயமோ இல்லையா? ராஜாவின் காரியம் அவசரமானபடியால், என் பட்டயத்தையோ, என் ஆயுதங்களையோ, நான் எடுத்துக்கொண்டுவரவில்லை என்றான்.

தாவீது அகிமெலேக்கிடம், “இங்கு ஈட்டியாவது பட்டயமாவது உள்ளதா? அரசனது வேலை முக்கியமானது, அது விரைவாக நடக்கவேண்டும். நான் சடுதியில் புறப்பட்டதால் பட்டயமாவது எந்தவித ஆயுதங்களையாவது எடுத்து வரவில்லை” என்றான்.

அப்பொழுது தாவீது அகிமெலக்கிடம், “இங்கு ஈட்டியோ வாளோ உம்மிடம் உள்ளதா? அரசரின் கட்டளை அவசரமானதாய் இருந்ததால் என் வாளையோ என் படைக்கலன்களையோ கையோடு கொண்டுவரவில்லை,” என்றார்.
