அவனுக்குச் சவுல் என்னும் பேருள்ள சவுந்தரியமான வாலிபனாகிய ஒரு குமாரன் இருந்தான்; இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரில் அவனைப்பார்க்கிலும் சவுந்தரியவான் இல்லை; எல்லா ஜனங்களும் அவன் தோளுக்குக் கீழாயிருக்கத்தக்க உயரமுள்ளவனாயிருந்தான்.

அவனுக்குச் சவுல் என்னும் பெயருள்ள மிகவும் அழகான வாலிபனான ஒரு மகன் இருந்தான்; இஸ்ரவேல் மக்களில் அவனை விட அழகுள்ளவன் இல்லை; எல்லா மக்களும் அவனுடைய தோளிற்கு கீழ் இருந்தனர். இவன் அவர்களை விட உயரமுள்ளவனாயிருந்தான்.

கீஸுக்கு சவுல் என்ற மகன் இருந்தான். இவன் அழகான இளைஞன். இவனைப்போல் அழகுள்ளவன் யாரும் இல்லை. இஸ்ரவேலில் எல்லோரும் இவன் தோளுக்குக் கீழாயிருக்கத்தக்க உயரம் இருந்தான்.

அவருக்குச் சவுல் என்ற ஓர் இளமையும் அழகும் கொண்ட மகன் இருந்தார். இஸ்ரயேலின் புதல்வருள் அவரைவிட அழகு வாய்ந்தவர் எவரும் இலர். மற்ற அனைவரையும் விட அவர் உயரமானவர். மற்ற அனைவரும் அவர் தோள் உயரமே இருந்தனர்.⒫
