நீங்கள் தேவனை அறியாமலிருந்தபோது, சுபாவத்தின்படி தேவர்களல்லாதவர்களுக்கு அடிமைகளாயிருந்தீர்கள்.

இதினிமித்தம் தேவன் அவர்களை இழிவான இச்சைரோகங்களுக்கு ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்; அந்தப்படியே அவர்களுடைய பெண்கள் சுபாவ அநுபோகத்தைச் சுபாவத்துக்கு விரோதமான அநுபோகமாக மாற்றினார்கள்.

அறியாமையுள்ள காலங்களை தேவன் காணாதவர்போலிருந்தார்; இப்பொழுதோ மனந்திரும்பவேண்டுமென்று எங்குமுள்ள மனுஷரெல்லாருக்கும் கட்டளையிடுகிறார்.

கர்த்தராகிய இயேசு தமது வல்லமையின் தூதரோடும், ஜுவாலித்து எரிகிற அக்கினியோடும், வானத்திலிருந்து வெளிப்படும்போது அப்படியாகும்.

தேவனை அறியும் அறிவைப் பற்றிக்கொண்டிருக்க அவர்களுக்கு மனதில்லாதிருந்தபடியால், தகாதவைகளைச் செய்யும்படி, தேவன் அவர்களைக் கேடான சிந்தைக்கு ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்.

எப்படியெனில், தேவஞானத்துக்கேற்றபடி உலகமானது சுயஞானத்தினாலே தேவனை அறியாதிருக்கையில், பைத்தியமாகத் தோன்றுகிற பிரசங்கத்தினாலே விசுவாசிகளை இரட்சிக்க தேவனுக்குப் பிரியமாயிற்று.

நீங்கள் பாவஞ்செய்யாமல் நீதிக்கேற்க விழித்துக்கொண்டு, தெளிந்தவர்களாயிருங்கள்; சிலர் தேவனைப்பற்றி அறிவில்லாதிருக்கிறார்களே; உங்களுக்கு வெட்கமுண்டாக இதைச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.

அக்காலத்திலே இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவைச் சேராதவர்களும், இஸ்ரவேலுடைய காணியாட்சிக்குப் புறம்பானவர்களும், வாக்குத்தத்தத்தின் உடன்படிக்கைகளுக்கு அந்நியரும், நம்பிக்கையில்லாதவர்களும், இவ்வுலகத்தில் தேவனற்றவர்களுமாயிருந்தீர்களென்று நினைத்துக்கொள்ளுங்கள்.

ஆதலால், கர்த்தருக்குள் நான் உங்களுக்குச் சாட்சியாகச் சொல்லி எச்சரிக்கிறது என்னவெனில், மற்றப் புறஜாதிகள் தங்கள் வீணான சிந்தையிலே நடக்கிறதுபோல நீங்கள் இனி நடவாமலிருங்கள்.

ஆகையால், விபசாரம், அசுத்தம், மோகம், துர்இச்சை, விக்கிரகாராதனையான பொருளாசை ஆகிய இவைகளைப் பூமியில் உண்டுபண்ணுகிற உங்கள் அவயவங்களை அழித்துப்போடுங்கள்.

சென்ற வாழ்நாட் காலத்திலே நாம் புறஜாதிகளுடைய இஷ்டத்தின்படி நடந்துகொண்டது போதும்; அப்பொழுது நாம் காமவிகாரத்தையும் துர்இச்சைகளையும் நடப்பித்து, மதுபானம்பண்ணி, களியாட்டுச்செய்து, வெறிகொண்டு, அருவருப்பான விக்கிரகாராதனையைச் செய்துவந்தோம்.
