இணை வசனம்

நான் மக்கெதோனியாவுக்குப் போகும்போது உன்னை எபேசு பட்டணத்திலிருக்க வேண்டிக்கொண்டபடியே செய்வாயாக.

அவர்களுடைய வார்த்தை அரிபிளவையைப்போலப் படரும்; இமெநேயும் பிலேத்தும் அப்படிப்பட்டவர்கள்;

நாம் அவபக்தியையும் லெளகிக இச்சைகளையும் வெறுத்து, தெளிந்தபுத்தியும் நீதியும் தேவபக்தியும் உள்ளவர்களாய் இவ்வுலகத்திலே ஜீவனம்பண்ணி,

புத்தியீனமான தர்க்கங்களையும் வம்சவரலாறுகளையும், சண்டைகளையும், நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தைக்குறித்து உண்டாகிற வாக்குவாதங்களையும் விட்டு விலகு; அவைகள் அப்பிரயோஜனமும் வீணுமாயிருக்கும்.

பலமான ஆகாரமானது நன்மை தீமையின்னதென்று பயிற்சியினால் பகுத்தறியத்தக்கதாக முயற்சிசெய்யும் ஞானேந்திரியங்களையுடையவர்களாகிய பூரண வயதுள்ளவர்களுக்கே தகும்.

இதனால் நான் தேவனுக்கும் மனுஷருக்கும் முன்பாக எப்பொழுதும் குற்றமற்ற மனச்சாட்சியை உடையவனாயிருக்கப் பிரயாசப்படுகிறேன்.

தகுதியான வஸ்திரத்தினாலும், நாணத்தினாலும், தெளிந்த புத்தியினாலும், தேவபக்தியுள்ளவர்களென்று சொல்லிக்கொள்ளுகிற ஸ்திரீகளுக்கு ஏற்றபடியே நற்கிரியைகளினாலும், தங்களை அலங்கரிக்கவேண்டும்.

அன்றியும், தேவபக்திக்குரிய இரகசியமானது யாவரும் ஒப்புக்கொள்ளுகிறபடியே மகா மேன்மையுள்ளது. தேவன் மாம்சத்திலே வெளிப்பட்டார், ஆவியிலே நீதியுள்ளவரென்று விளங்கப்பட்டார், தேவதூதர்களால் காணப்பட்டார், புறஜாதிகளிடத்தில் பிரசங்கிக்கப்பட்டார், உலகத்திலே விசுவாசிக்கப்பட்டார், மகிமையிலே ஏறெடுத்துக்கொள்ளப்பட்டார்.

நீயோ, தேவனுடைய மனுஷனே இவைகளை விட்டோடி, நீதியையும் தேவபக்தியையும் விசுவாசத்தையும் அன்பையும் பொறுமையையும் சாந்தகுணத்தையும் அடையும்படி நாடு.

ஓ தீமோத்தேயுவே, உன்னிடத்தில் ஒப்புவிக்கப்பட்டதை நீ காத்துக்கொண்டு, சீர்கேடான வீண்பேச்சுகளுக்கும், ஞானமென்று பொய்யாய்ப் பேர்பெற்றிருக்கிற கொள்கையின் விபரீதங்களுக்கும் விலகு.

கர்த்தருடைய ஊழியக்காரன் சண்டைபண்ணுகிறவனாயிராமல், எல்லாரிடத்திலும் சாந்தமுள்ளவனும், போதகசமர்த்தனும், தீமையைச் சகிக்கிறவனுமாயிருக்கவேண்டும்.

பொல்லாதவர்களும் எத்தர்களுமானவர்கள் மோசம்போக்குகிறவர்களாகவும், மோசம்போகிறவர்களாகவுமிருந்து மேன்மேலும் கேடுள்ளவர்களாவார்கள்.

நீயோ எல்லாவற்றிலும் மனத்தெளிவுள்ளவனாயிரு, தீங்கநுபவி, சுவிசேஷகனுடைய வேலையைச் செய், உன் ஊழியத்தை நிறைவேற்று.

விசுவாசத்திலே ஆரோக்கியமுள்ளவர்களாயிருக்கும்படி, நீ அவர்களைக் கண்டிப்பாய்க் கடிந்துகொள்.
