நீங்கள் போகாமலும், உங்கள் சகோதரரோடு யுத்தம்பண்ணாமலும் அவரவர் தம்தம் வீட்டுக்குத் திரும்புங்கள்; என்னாலே இந்தக் காரியம் நடந்தது என்று கர்த்தர் உரைக்கிறார் என்று சொல் என்றார்; அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தைகளுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிந்து, யெரொபெயாமுக்கு விரோதமாய் யுத்தம்பண்ணுவதை விட்டுத் திரும்பிப் போய்விட்டார்கள்.

நீங்கள் போகாமலும், உங்கள் சகோதரரோடு போர்செய்யாமலும், அவரவர் தம்தம் வீட்டுக்குத் திரும்புங்கள்; என்னாலே இந்தக் காரியம் நடந்தது என்று கர்த்தர் உரைக்கிறார் என்று சொல் என்றார்; அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தைகளுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிந்து, யெரொபெயாமுக்கு விரோதமாக போர்செய்வதைத் தவிர்த்துத் திரும்பிப் போய்விட்டார்கள்.

கர்த்தர் சொன்ன செய்திகள் இவை தான்: ‘உன் சகோதரர்களோடு நீ சண்டை போடாதே! ஒவ்வொருவரையும் தம் சொந்த வீட்டுக்குப் போகவிடு. நான் இவ்வாறு நிகழும்படிச் செய்தேன்.’” எனவே ரெகொபெயாமும் அவனது படையும் கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தைக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிந்து திரும்பி வந்தது. அவர்கள் யெரொபெயாமைத் தாக்கவில்லை.

‘ஆண்டவர் கூறுவது இதுவே: நீங்கள் படையெடுத்துச் சென்று, உம் சகோதரருடன் போரிட வேண்டாம். அவரவர் தம் வீட்டுக்குத் திரும்புங்கள்; ஏனெனில், என்னாலேயே இச்செயல் நிகழ்ந்தது.” ஆண்டவரின் வாக்கைக் கேட்ட அவர்கள், எரொபவாமுக்கு எதிராகச் செல்வதைக் கைவிட்டுத் திரும்பிச் சென்றனர்.
