ஆகையால் ராஜாவானவன் யோசனைபண்ணி, பொன்னினால் இரண்டு கன்றுக்குட்டிகளை உண்டாக்கி, ஜனங்களைப் பார்த்து: நீங்கள் எருசலேமுக்குப் போகிறது உங்களுக்கு வருத்தம்; இஸ்ரவேலரே, இதோ, இவைகள் உங்களை எகிப்துதேசத்திலிருந்து வரப்பண்ணின உங்கள் தேவர்கள் என்று சொல்லி,

அவன் இஸ்ரவேல் ராஜாக்களின் வழியிலே நடந்து, ஆகாபின் வீட்டார் செய்ததுபோலச் செய்தான்; ஆகாபின் குமாரத்தி அவனுக்கு மனைவியாயிருந்தாள்; அவன் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்தான்.

இஸ்ரவேலே, நீ சோரம்போனாலும், யூதாவாகிலும் அந்தப் பாவத்துக்குள்ளாகாதிருப்பதாக; கில்காலுக்கு வராமலும், பெத்தாவேனுக்குப் போகாமலும் கர்த்தருடைய ஜீவனாணை என்று ஆணையிடாமலும் இருப்பீர்களாக.

அவர்கள் இருவரும் கர்த்தரிட்ட சகல கற்பனைகளின்படியேயும் நியமங்களின்படியேயும் குற்றமற்றவர்களாய் நடந்து, தேவனுக்கு முன்பாக நீதியுள்ளவர்களாயிருந்தார்கள்.

தகப்பன் தன் பிள்ளைகளுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறதுபோல, நாங்கள் உங்களில் ஒவ்வொருவனுக்கும் புத்தியும் தேறுதலும் எச்சரிப்பும் சொன்னதை அறிந்திருக்கிறீர்கள்.

அன்றியும், சகோதரரே, நீங்கள் இன்னின்ன பிரகாரமாய் நடக்கவும், தேவனுக்குப் பிரியமாயிருக்கவும் வேண்டுமென்று, நீங்கள் எங்களால் கேட்டு ஏற்றுக்கொண்டபடியே, அதிகமதிகமாய்த் தேறும்படிக்கு, கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுவுக்குள் உங்களை வேண்டிக்கொண்டு புத்திசொல்லுகிறோம்.

இந்தக் காரியம் பாவமாயிற்று; ஜனங்கள் இந்த ஒரு கன்றுக்குட்டிக்காகத் தாண்மட்டும் போவார்கள்.

தன் மனதிலே தானே நியமித்துக் கொண்ட எட்டாம் மாதம் பதினைந்தாம் தேதியிலே பெத்தேலில் தான் உண்டாக்கின பலிபீடத்தின்மேல் பலியிட்டு, இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்குப் பண்டிகையை ஏற்படுத்தி, பலிபீடத்தின்மேல் பலியிட்டுத் தூபங்காட்டினான்.

இந்த நடபடிக்குப்பின்பு, யெரொபெயாம் தன் பொல்லாத வழியைவிட்டுத் திரும்பாமல், மறுபடியும் ஜனத்தில் ஈனமானவர்களை மேடைகளின் ஆசாரியராக்கினான்; எவன் மேல் அவனுக்கு மனதிருந்ததோ அவனைப் பிரதிஷ்டைப்பண்ணினான்; அப்படிப்பட்டவர்கள் மேடைகளின் ஆசாரியரானார்கள்.

நேபாத்தின் குமாரனாகிய யெரொபெயாமின் பாவங்களில் நடப்பது அவனுக்குக் கொஞ்சக்காரியமென்று நினைத்தாற்போல் அவன் சீதோனியரின் ராஜாவாகிய ஏத்பாகாலின் குமாரத்தி யேசபேலை விவாகம்பண்ணினதுமல்லாமல், அவன் போய் பாகாலையும் சேவித்து அதைப் பணிந்துகொண்டு,

அவள் இப்படியெல்லாம் செய்தபின்பு: நீ என்னிடத்தில் திரும்பிவா என்று நான் சொன்னேன்; அவளோ திரும்பவில்லை; இதை அவளுடைய சகோதரியாகிய யூதா என்கிற துரோகி கண்டாள்.
