அதினால் அவர்கள் அவனுக்கு விரோதமாய்க் கட்டுப்பாடுபண்ணி, கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயப்பிராகாரத்தில் ராஜாவினுடைய கற்பனையின்படி அவனைக் கல்லெறிந்து கொன்றார்கள்.

ஆனால் ஜனங்கள் சகரியாவிற்கு எதிராகத் திட்டமிட்டனர். சகரியாவைக் கொல்லும்படி அரசன் கட்டளையிட்டான். எனவே அவன் மரிக்கும்வரை ஜனங்கள் அவன் மீது கற்களை எறிந்தார்கள். ஜனங்கள் இதனை ஆலய பிரகாரத்திலேயே செய்தனர்.
