அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் ஒரு தூதனை அனுப்பினார்; அவன் அசீரியருடைய ராஜாவின் பாளயத்திலுள்ள சகல பராக்கிரமசாலிகளையும், தலைவரையும், சேனாபதிகளையும் அதம்பண்ணினான்; அப்படியே சனகெரிப் செத்தமுகமாய்த் தன்தேசத்திற்குத் திரும்பினான்; அங்கே அவன் தன் தேவனுடைய கோவிலுக்குள் பிரவேசிக்கிறபோது, அவனுடைய கர்ப்பப்பிறப்பான சிலர் அவனைப் பட்டயத்தால் வெட்டிப்போட்டார்கள்.

அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் ஒரு தூதனை அனுப்பினார்; அவன் அசீரியருடைய ராஜாவின் முகாமிலுள்ள அனைத்து பராக்கிரமசாலிகளையும், தலைவரையும், தளபதிகளையும் அழித்தான்; அப்படியே சனகெரிப் செத்தமுகமாகத் தன் தேசத்திற்குத் திரும்பினான்; அங்கே அவன் தன் தெய்வத்தின் கோவிலுக்குள் பிரவேசிக்கிறபோது, அவனுடைய கர்ப்பப்பிறப்பான சிலர் அவனைப் பட்டயத்தால் வெட்டிப்போட்டார்கள்.

பிறகு கர்த்தர் அசீரியா அரசனின் முகாமிற்கு ஒரு தேவ தூதனை அனுப்பினார். தேவதூதன் அசீரியாவின் படையில் உள்ள எல்லா வீரர்களையும், தலைவர்களையும், அதிகாரிகளையும் கொன்றான். எனவே, அசீரியா அரசன் தனது சொந்த நாட்டிற்குத் திரும்பிப் போனான். அவனது ஜனங்கள் அவனுக்காக வெட்கப்பட்டனர். அவன் தனது பொய்த் தெய்வங்களின் கோவிலிற்குப் போனான். அங்கே அவனது மகன்கள் அவனை வாளால் கொன்றனர்.

அப்பொழுது, ஆண்டவர் ஒரு வானதூதரை அனுப்பி, அசீரிய மன்னனின் பாசறையிலிருந்த ஆற்றல்மிகு வீரர் அனைவரையும் அலுவலர்களையும் படைத் தலைவர்களையும் கொன்றழித்தார். அதனால், அசீரிய மன்னன் அவமானப்பட்டுத் தனது நாட்டுக்குத் திரும்பினான். அங்கே அவன் தனது தெய்வத்தின் கோவிலுக்குள் நுழைந்தபோது, அவன் சொந்தப் புதல்வரே அவனை வாளால் வெட்டி வீழ்த்தினர்.⒫
