ஜனத்தின்மேல் படைத்தலைவரை வைத்து, அவர்களை நகரவாசலின் வீதியிலே தன்னண்டையில் கூடிவரச்செய்து, அவர்களை நோக்கி:

ஜனங்களுக்குத் தலைமைத் தாங்கும் போர்த் தலைவர்களை எசேக்கியா தேர்ந்தெடுத்தான். நகர வாசலுக்கருகில் அவன் இந்த அதிகாரிகளை அழைத்துப் பேசினான். எசேக்கியா அவர்களோடு பேசி அவர்களை உற்சாகப்படுத்தினான். அவன், “நீங்கள் பலமாகவும், தைரியமாகவும் இருங்கள். அசீரியா அரசனைப்பற்றியோ, அவனது பெரும் படையைப் பற்றியோ பயமும் கவலையும் அடையாதீர்கள். அசீரியா அரசனுக்கு இருக்கிற பலத்தைவிட மாபெரும் வல்லமை நமக்கு பலமாக இருக்கிறது.
