யோசியா தேவாலயத்திற்கு அடுத்ததைத் திட்டப்படுத்தின இந்த எல்லா நடபடிகளுக்கும்பின்பு, எகிப்தின்ராஜாவாகிய நேகோ ஐபிராத்து நதியோரமான கர்கேமிஸ் பட்டத்தின்மேல் யுத்தம்பண்ண வந்தான்; அப்பொழுது யோசியா அவனுக்கு விரோதமாய் யுத்தஞ்செய்யப் புறப்பட்டான்.

யோசியா தேவாலயத்திற்குரியவைகளை ஒழுங்குபடுத்தின இந்த அனைத்து செயல்பாடுகளுக்கும்பின்பு, எகிப்தின் ராஜாவாகிய நேகோ ஐபிராத்து நதியோரமான கர்கேமிஸ் பட்டணத்தின்மேல் போர் செய்யவந்தான்; அப்பொழுது யோசியா அவனுக்கு விரோதமாக போர்செய்யப் புறப்பட்டான்.

யோசியா ஆலயத்திற்கு அனைத்து நல்ல செயல்களையும் செய்து முடித்தான். பிறகு எகிப்து அரசனான நேகோ தன் படைகளோடு ஐபிராத்து ஆற்றின் கரையிலுள்ள கர்கேமிஸ் நகரத்தின் மீது போர் செய்ய சென்றான். உடனே யோசியா அரசனும் அவனோடு போரிடச் சென்றான்.
