தேவனுடைய சாயலாயிருக்கிற கிறிஸ்துவின் மகிமையான சுவிசேஷத்தின் ஒளி அவிசுவாசிகளாகிய அவர்களுக்குப் பிரகாசமாயிராதபடிக்கு, இப்பிரபஞ்சத்தின் தேவனானவன் அவர்களுடைய மனதைக் குருடாக்கினான்.

தேவனுடைய சாயலாக இருக்கிற கிறிஸ்துவின் மகிமையான நற்செய்தியின் ஒளி, அவிசுவாசிகளாகிய அவர்களுக்குப் பிரகாசமாக இல்லாதபடி, இந்த உலகத்தின் தேவனானவன் அவர்களுடைய மனதைக் குருடாக்கினான்.

இந்த உலகத்தை ஆள்பவனாகிய சாத்தான் விசுவாசம் இல்லாதவர்களின் மனதைக் குருடாக்கினான். அவர்களால் கிறிஸ்துவின் நற்செய்தியின் ஒளியைப் பார்க்க இயலாது. கிறிஸ்துவின் மகிமைக்குரிய நற்செய்தியையும் அறியார்கள். கிறிஸ்து மட்டுமே தேவன் போன்று இருப்பவர்.

இவ்வுலகின் தெய்வம் நம்பிக்கை கொண்டிராதோரின் அறிவுக் கண்களைக் குருடாக்கிவிட்டது. எனவே, அவர்கள் கடவுளின் சாயலாய் விளங்கும் கிறிஸ்துவின் மாட்சி பொருந்திய நற்செய்தி ஒளியைக் காணமுடிவதில்லை.

In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
