இப்பொழுது சந்தோஷப்படுகிறேன்; நீங்கள் துக்கப்பட்டதற்காக அல்ல, மனந்திரும்புகிறதற்கேதுவாகத் துக்கப்பட்டதற்காகவே சந்தோஷப்படுகிறேன்; நீங்கள் ஒன்றிலும் எங்களால் நஷ்டப்படாதபடிக்கு, தேவனுக்கேற்ற துக்கம் அடைந்தீர்களே.

இப்பொழுது சந்தோஷப்படுகிறேன்; நீங்கள் துக்கப்பட்டதற்காக இல்லை, மனம்திரும்புகிறதற்கேற்றத் துக்கப்பட்டதற்காகவே சந்தோஷப்படுகிறேன்; நீங்கள் ஒன்றிலும் எங்களால் நஷ்டப்படாதபடி, தேவனுக்கேற்ற துக்கம் அடைந்தீர்களே.

இப்பொழுது மகிழ்ச்சியாக இருக்கிறேன். இது நீங்கள் துயரப்படும்படி ஆனதால் அன்று. அத்துயரம் உங்கள் இதயங்களை மாற்றியதற்காக நான் மகிழ்கிறேன். தேவனுடைய விருப்பப்படியே நீங்கள் துக்கப்பட்டீர்கள். எனவே நீங்கள் எங்களால் எவ்வகையிலும் பாதிக்கப்படவில்லை.

Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing.
