இஸ்ரவேலர் தாவீது வம்சத்தை விட்டுப் பிரிந்து, நேபாத்தின் குமாரனாகிய யெரொபெயாமை ராஜாவாக்கினார்கள்; அப்பொழுது யெரொபெயாம் இஸ்ரவேலைக் கர்த்தரை விட்டுப் பின்வாங்கவும், பெரிய பாவத்தைச் செய்யவும்பண்ணினான்.
