அவன் தன் தேவனாகிய நிஸ்ரோகின் கோவிலிலே பணிந்துகொள்ளுகிறபோது, அவன் குமாரராகிய அத்ரமலேக்கும் சரேத்சேரும் அவனைப் பட்டயத்தினால் வெட்டிப்போட்டு, ஆரராத் தேசத்திற்குத் தப்பி ஓடிப்போனார்கள்; அவன் குமாரனாகிய எசாத்தோன் அவன் பட்டத்திற்கு வந்து அரசாண்டான்.

அவன் தன் தேவனாகிய நிஸ்ரோகின் கோவிலிலே பணிந்துகொள்ளுகிறபோது, அவனுடைய மகன்களாகிய அத்ரமலேக்கும், சரேத்சேரும் அவனைப் பட்டயத்தால் வெட்டிப்போட்டு, அரராத் தேசத்திற்குத் தப்பி ஓடிப்போனார்கள்; அவனுடைய மகனாகிய எசரத்தோன் அவன் பட்டத்திற்கு வந்து ஆட்சிசெய்தான்.

ஒரு நாள் சனகெரிப் தனது தெய்வமான நிஸ்ரோகின், ஆலயத்தில் தொழுகை செய்துக்கொண்டிருந்தான். அப்போது அவனை அவனது மகன்களான அத்ரமலேக் என்பவனும் சரேத்சேர் என்பவனும் சேர்ந்து வாளால் கொன்றனர். பிறகு அவர்கள் அங்கிருந்து தப்பித்து ஆரராத் நாட்டிற்கு ஓடினார்கள். சனகெரிப்பிற்குப் பிறகு அவனது மகன் எசரத்தோன் என்பவன் புதிய அரசன் ஆனான்.

தன் தெய்வமாகிய நிஸ்ரோக்கின் கோவிலில் அவன் வழிபாடு செய்துகொண்டிருந்த பொழுது, அவன் புதல்வர்களாகிய அதிரம் மெலக்கும், சரேத்சரும் அவனை வாளால் வெட்டிக் கொன்றுவிட்டு, அரராத்து நாட்டிற்குத் தப்பி ஓடிவிட்டனர். அவனுடைய மகன் ஏசகத்தோன் அவனுக்குப்பின் அரசன் ஆனான்.
