அவன் ராஜ்யபாரம்பண்ணும் ஒன்பதாம் வருஷம் பத்தாம் மாதம் பத்தாந்தேதியிலே பாபிலோன் ராஜாவாகிய நேபுகாத்நேச்சாரும் அவனுடைய எல்லா இராணுவமும் எருசலேமுக்கு விரோதமாய் வந்து, அதற்கு எதிரே பாளயமிறங்கி, சுற்றிலும் அதற்கு எதிராகக் கொத்தளங்களைக் கட்டினார்கள்.

எனவே, பாபிலோன் அரசனும், அவனது படைகளும், எருசலேமிற்கு எதிராகப் போரிட வந்தனர். இது சிதேக்கியாவின் 9வது ஆட்சியாண்டின் பத்தாம் மாதத்தின் பத்தாம் நாளில் நடந்தது. நேபுகாத் நேச்சார் தன் படையை நிறுத்தி நகரத்திற்குள் யாரும் போகாமலும் வெளியேறாமலும் தடுத்துவிட்டான். பின் நகரத்தைச்சுற்றி கொத்தளச் சுவரைக் கட்டினான்.

செதேக்கியாவினது ஆட்சியின் ஒன்பதாம் ஆண்டு பத்தாம் மாதம் பத்தாம் நாளில், பாபிலோனிய மன்னன் நெபுகத்னேசர் தன் எல்லாப் படைகளோடு எருசலேமுக்கு எதிராக வந்து, பாளையம் இறங்கி அதைச் சுற்றிலும் முற்றுகைத் தளம் எழுப்பினான்.
