அதினாலே யோராம் சகல இரதங்களோடுங்கூடச் சாயீருக்குப் புறப்பட்டுப் போனான்; அவன் இராத்திரியில் எழுந்திருந்து, தன்னை வளைந்துகொண்ட ஏதோமியரையும் இரதங்களின் தலைவரையும் முறிய அடித்தபோது, ஜனங்கள் தங்கள் கூடாரங்களுக்கு ஓடிப்போனார்கள்.

அதனாலே யோராம் சகல இரதங்களோடுங்கூட சாயீருக்குப் புறப்பட்டுப் போனான்; அவன் இரவில் எழுந்திருந்து, தன்னைச் சூழ்ந்துகொண்ட ஏதோமியர்களையும் இரதங்களின் தலைவர்களையும் தாக்கியபோது, மக்கள் தங்களுடைய கூடாரங்களுக்கு ஓடிப்போனார்கள்.

அதனால் யோராம் (யூதாவைச் சேர்ந்தவன்) இரதங்களோடு சாயீருக்குப் போனான். அவர்களை ஏதோமிய படை சூழ்ந்தபோது, யோராமும் அவனது தளபதிகளும் ஏதோமியர்களைத் தாக்கினார்கள். யோராமின் வீரர்கள் அனைவரும் வீட்டிற்குத் தப்பிச் சென்றார்கள்.

ஆனால், யோராம் சாயிருக்குத் தன் தேர்ப்படைகள் அனைத்தோடும் சென்றான். ஏதோமியர் அவனையும் அவனுடைய தேர்ப்படை தலைவர்களையும் சூழ்ந்து கொண்டனர். அவன் இரவில் எழுந்து ஏதோமியரை வெட்டி வீழ்த்தினான். மக்கள் தம்தம் கூடாரத்திற்கு தப்பி ஓடினர்.
