அப்சலோம் யோவாபைப் பார்த்து: இதோ, நான் ஏன் கேசூரிலிருந்து வந்தேன்; நான் அங்கே இருந்துவிட்டால் நலம் என்று ராஜாவுக்குச் சொல்லும்படி உம்மை ராஜாவினிடத்தில் அனுப்புவதற்காக உம்மை இங்கே வரும்படி அழைப்பித்தேன், இப்போதும் நான் ராஜாவின்முகத்தைப் பார்க்கட்டும்; என்மேல் குற்றமிருந்தால் அவர் என்னைக் கொன்றுபோடட்டும் என்றான்.

அப்சலோம் யோவாபைப் பார்த்து: இதோ, நான் ஏன் கேசூரிலிருந்து வந்தேன்; நான் அங்கே இருந்துவிட்டால் நலம் என்று ராஜாவுக்குச் சொல்லும்படி உம்மை ராஜாவிடம் அனுப்புவதற்காக உம்மை இங்கே வரும்படி அழைப்பு கொடுத்தேன்; இப்போதும் நான் ராஜாவின் முகத்தைப் பார்க்கட்டும்; என்மேல் குற்றம் இருந்தால் அவர் என்னைக் கொன்றுபோடட்டும் என்றான்.

அப்சலோம் யோவாபிடம், “நான் உனக்குச் செய்தி சொல்லியனுப்பினேன். நான் உன்னை இங்கு வருமாறு அழைத்தேன். உன்னை அரசனிடம் அனுப்ப விரும்பினேன். கேசூரிலிருந்து என்னை இங்கு ஏன் வரவழைத்தார் என்று எனக்காக நீ அவரைக் கேட்க வேண்டும். நான் அவரை நேரில் பார்க்கமுடியாது, எனவே நான் கேசூரில் தங்கியிருந்தால் இன்னும் நன்றாக இருந்திருக்கும். இப்போது நான் போய் அரசனைக் காணவிடுங்கள். நான் பாவம் செய்திருந்தால் அவர் என்னைக் கொல்லட்டும்!” என்றான்.

அதற்கு அப்சலோம் யோவாபிடம் கூறியது: ‘நான் கெசூரிலிருந்து இங்கு வந்தது ஏன்? நான் அங்கேயே இருந்திருந்தால் நலமாய் இருந்திருக்கும்’ என்று அரசரிடம் கேட்க விரும்புகிறேன். இதற்காக உம்மை அவரிடம் அனுப்ப, உமக்கு ஆளனுப்பினேன். நான் இப்போது அரசனின் முகத்தில் விழிக்க வழிசெய்யும். ஏனெனில், ஏதாவது குற்றம் இருப்பின் அவர் என்னைக் கொல்லட்டும்”.⒫
