அப்பொழுது செருயாவின் குமாரனாகிய யோவாபும் தாவீதின் சேவகரும் புறப்பட்டுப்போய் கிபியோனின் குளத்தண்டையில் ஒருவருக்கொருவர் எதிர்ப்பட்டு குளத்திற்கு அந்தப்பக்கத்தில் அவர்களும் குளத்திற்கு இந்தப்பக்கத்தில் இவர்களும் இறங்கினார்கள்.

அப்பொழுது செருயாவின் மகனான யோவாபும் தாவீதின் வீரர்களும் புறப்பட்டுப்போய், கிபியோனின் குளத்தின் அருகில் ஒருவருக்கு ஒருவர் சந்தித்து, குளத்திற்கு அந்தப்பக்கத்தில் அவர்களும், குளத்திற்கு இந்தப்பக்கத்தில் இவர்களும் இறங்கினார்கள்.

செருயாவின் மகனாகிய யோவாபும், தாவீதின் அதிகாரிகளும் சேர்ந்து கிபியோனுக்குச் சென்றனர். கிபியோனின் குளத்தருகே அவர்கள் அப்னேரையும் இஸ்போசேத்தின் அதிகாரிகளையும் சந்தித்தனர். அப்னேரின் கூட்டத்தினர் குளத்தின் ஒரு கரையிலும், யோவாபின் கூட்டத்தார் குளத்தின் மறுகரையிலும் அமர்ந்தனர்.

செரூயாவின் மகன் யோவாபும் தாவீதின் பணியாளர்களும் புறப்பட்டுச் சென்று அவர்களைக் கிபயோன் குளத்தருகே எதிர் கொண்டனர். ஒரு சாரார் இப்பக்கமும் மறுசாரார் அப்பக்கமும் குளத்தின் அருகே அமர்ந்தனர்.
