செருயாவின் குமாரனாகிய அபிசாய் ராஜாவுக்கு உதவியாக வந்து, பெலிஸ்தனை வெட்டிக் கொன்றுபோட்டான். அப்பொழுது தாவீதின் மனுஷர்: இஸ்ரவேலின் விளக்கு அணைந்துபோகாதபடிக்கு, நீர் இனி எங்களோடே யுத்தத்திற்குப் புறப்படவேண்டாம் என்று அவனுக்கு ஆணையிட்டுச் சொன்னார்கள்.

செருயாவின் மகனான அபிசாய் ராஜாவுக்கு உதவியாக வந்து, பெலிஸ்தியனை வெட்டிக் கொன்றுபோட்டான். அப்பொழுது தாவீதின் மனிதர்கள்: இஸ்ரவேலின் விளக்கு அணைந்துபோகாதபடி, நீர் இனி எங்களோடு யுத்தத்திற்குப் புறப்படவேண்டாம் என்று அவனுக்கு ஆணையிட்டுச் சொன்னார்கள்.

ஆனால் செருயாவின் மகனாகிய அபிசாய் பெலிஸ்தனைக் கொன்று தாவீதைக் காப்பாற்றினான். பின்பு தாவீதின் ஆட்கள் தாவீதிற்கு சிறப்பான ஒரு வாக்குறுதி அளித்தனர். அவர்கள் தாவீதிடம், “இனி நீங்கள் எங்களோடு சேர்ந்து போருக்கு வர வேண்டாம். அவ்வாறு வந்தால் இஸ்ரவேல் தனது சிறந்த தலைவரை இழக்கக்கூடும்” என்றனர்.

செரூயாவின் மகன் அபிசாய் அவருடைய உதவிக்கு வந்து அப்பெலிஸ்தியனை வெட்டிக் கொன்றான். எனவே, தாவீதின் ஆள்கள் “இஸ்ரயேலின் விளக்கு அணைந்து போகாதவண்ணம் நீர் இனி எங்களோடு போருக்கு வரக்கூடாது” என்று அவரிடம் ஆணையிட்டுச் சொன்னார்கள்.⒫
