இவன் எழும்பித் தன் கைசலித்து, தன் கை பட்டயத்தோடு ஒட்டிக்கொள்ளுமட்டும் பெலிஸ்தரை வெட்டினான்; அன்றையதினம் கர்த்தர் பெரிய ரட்சிப்பை நடப்பித்தார்; ஜனங்கள் கொள்ளையிடமாத்திரம் அவனைப் பின்சென்றார்கள்.

இவன் எழுந்து தன்னுடைய கை சோர்ந்து, தன்னுடைய கை பட்டயத்தோடு ஒட்டிக்கொள்ளும்வரை பெலிஸ்தர்களை வெட்டினான்; அன்றையதினம் கர்த்தர் பெரிய இரட்சிப்பை நடத்தினார்; மக்கள் கொள்ளையிடுவதற்குமட்டும் அவனுக்குப் பின்சென்றார்கள்.

மிகவும் சோர்ந்துபோகும்வரைக்கும் எலெயாசார் பெலிஸ்தரோடு போரிட்டான். ஆனால் அவன் வாளை இறுகப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு போர் செய்வதைத் தொடர்ந்தான். கர்த்தர் அன்று இஸ்ரவேலருக்குப் பெரும் வெற்றியைக் கொடுத்தார். எலெயாசார் போரில் வென்ற பிறகு பிற வீரர்கள் திரும்பி வந்தனர். மரித்த பகைவரிடமிருந்து பொருட்களைக் கொள்ளையிட அவர்கள் வந்தனர்.

அப்பொழுது அவன் தனித்து நின்று, கை சோர்வுற்று வாளோடு ஒட்டிக்கொள்ளும் அளவுக்குப் பெலிஸ்தியரைத் தாக்கினான். ஆண்டவர் அன்று பெரும் வெற்றியைத் தந்தார். அவன் வீரர்கள் அவனை கொள்ளையடிப்பதற்காக அவனிடம் திரும்பினர்.⒫
