அதற்குப் பவுல், தான் இராயருக்கு முன்பாக நியாயம் விசாரிக்கப்படும்படிக்கு நிறுத்திவைக்கப்படவேண்மென்று அபயமிட்டபோது, நான் அவனை இராயனிடத்திற்கு அனுப்புமளவும் காவல்பண்ணும்படி கட்டளையிட்டேன் என்றான்.

அதற்குப் பவுல், தான் இராயருக்கு முன்பாக நீதி விசாரிக்கப்படும்படி நிறுத்தப்படவேண்டுமென்று முறையிட்டபோது, நான் அவனை இராயனிடத்திற்கு அனுப்பும்வரை காவல் செய்யும்படி ஆணையிட்டேன் என்றான்.

ஆனால் பவுல் செசரியாவிலேயே வைக்கப்பட வேண்டுமென்று கேட்டான். அவன் இராயர் முடிவெடுக்க வேண்டுமென விரும்புகிறான். ரோமில் இராயரிடம் அவனை அனுப்பும் மட்டும் அவன் இங்கேயே வைக்கப்பட நான் கட்டளையிட்டுள்ளேன்” என்று கூறினான்.

பவுல், பேரரசரே விசாரித்துத் தீர்ப்பு அளிக்கும் வரை தம்மைக் காவலில் வைக்க வேண்டும் என்று கேட்டுக்கொண்டார். ஆதலால், இவரைச் சீசரிடம் அனுப்பும்வரை காவலில் வைக்குமாறு ஆணை பிறப்பித்தேன்.”
